The Troop 80 Annual Plant Sale Fundraiser will be held May 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Albertson Fire Company, Firehouse parking lot, 100 I.U. On the same day, Colette and Patrick Coyne, who lost their daughter to melanoma, and their organization, CCMAC, will be hosting their 4th Annual Miles for Melanoma Walk at Eisenhower Park. There will be activities for children including face painting and making bracelets from UV sensitive beads to remind them to take precautions in the sun. A derma-scan machine will be available. When a person looks into the machine they can see how much the sun, or tanning booth use, has already damaged their skin. On May 4, PO Hennessy arrested a 25-year-old Hempstead man for alleged DWI (.16%), the failure to maintain a lane, and for an open alcoholic beverage, at Clinton Road...On April 30, a Malverne woman reported that her pocketbook containing three credit cards, $55 and a NY license was stolen at 1225 Franklin Avenue... On the same day, a 25-year-old Forest Hills woman reported that her wallet containing a Florida license and credit cards had been stolen from a dorm room... On May 3, a Coach handbag containing $300 and 2 credit cards was stolen from a fitting room at Pay/half...On May 6, a 42-year-old Blue Point man reported that a VISA debit card, a $700 Tag Hauer watch, a $120 pair of sunglasses, and $10, had been taken out of his unlocked car parked at the Cherry Valley Country Club...PO Hudak, PO Jacobsen, and the State DOT were all at the scene of a truck stop being conducted at Clinton Rd. and Commercial Avenue, on May 2. 7 trucks were inspected with 3 taken out of service, 14 for overweight and 2 for over-length, with 62 tickets issued...A 71-year-old Garden City woman reported that her car had evidently been hit in parking Field 7E on May 2...Also on May 2, 3 men were seeing leaving the GC Country Club parking lot in a white minivan, and an employee at the club thought they were acting suspiciously.. Later it was learned the car had been stole from another area, and an investigation continues...A $300 Blackberry was taken after thieves broke a left rear window and entered a car parked in a Wellington Road driveway, overnight on May 4...Someone broke a side window of a Honda Civic parked at Sears on May 2, and stole a CD player after damaging the ignition on the car...Two men were seen fleeing from a Hampton Road house after they stole a UPS package placed there at the front of the house. Unbeknownst to them however-it was a $35 package of potpourri...
