| Girls U11 Power started off their spring season with a nice win in the first round of the Waldbaum's cup, but have continued to get some bad breaks since then. As league week three rolled around, the team realized that they may not have enough players to attend the game due to Spring Break vacations. The team decided to play one player short and with no substitutes rather than risk a forfeit, but their Glen Cove opponents had another plan. With more than twice the number of players Glen Cove was rested and substituted many times during the game, yet the Power girls were outrunning and out-shooting them. However, with an empty spot on the field, Glen Cove managed to slip 2 goals into the net and take the lead. But, Power was relentless with great goalkeeping by Alex Manning along with defensive pressure by Sarah Biscardi and Laurel Fisher, and midfielders Jillian Gregory and Claire Murphy, who together helped produce numerous offensive opportunities for MaryKate Kenny, Allison Schmidt and Fiona McLeod. McLeod scored a beauty for the Power, but that was just not enough. Power ended up with a 2-1 loss, but not a defeat. The girls realized how terrific they had played, how hard they had worked and how they had played as a TEAM. They were laughing and smiling as they came off the field because they knew that they had done their best, and that they really had fun doing it! Better luck next week girls......keep up the good work.
