Girls 6th Grade White Lacrosse Teams Plays Classic Game

The Sunday April 27th at St. Paul's Field, the GC White Sweeties were tied by Massapequa in the final moments in a memorable game in which the gals came back from being down 4 to 1 and 6 to 4 at halftime. The girls battled back to take the lead 7-6 and later 8-7 only to be tied in the final two minutes. Evan Molitor in goal (9 saves) then came up big to preserve the tie in the final seconds. Erin Pfail had given the Sweeties the 8-7 lead with a 3/4 field length run for a goal.

This punctuated a furious comeback led by great draw wins by Kayla Murphy, superior midfield play by Katherine Malhame, Kelly Tierney, Jamie Sweet, and Sara Galzerano. Key defensive stops, particularly at the end of the game were made by Halle Waitkus, Sage Fuller, Maggie Rogers,and Amanda Kelly. Maintaining possession of the ball in the offensive zone was led by Daniella Joyce, Sara Rubino, Meghan Muhlhall, Alex Riceman, Kristan Rasquin, and Lauren Garizio.

Goal scorers were Kayla Muphy, Erin Pfail, and Katherine Malhame. The important assist leaders were Daniella Joyce, Sara Galzerano, Kayla Murphy and Katherine Malhame. The great ground ball gatherers were Kelly Tierney, Alex Riceman, Maggie Rogers, and Halle Waitkus. Many thanks to the injured and very much missed Lauren Mixon for doing a great job scoring and helping out with the team. Double teaming defense was evident all over and it was a truly great game to watch & play in.
