GC Police Department Conducts Joint Operation On Monday, April 28, the Garden City and MTA Police Departments conducted a joint operation during the early morning commuting hours at two village train stations. The operation "If You See Something, Say Something" was conducted at the Garden City Train Station and the Merillon Avenue Train Station. At these stations, members of both departments handed out "If You See Some-thing, Say Something" pamphlets to morning commuters. The goal of handing out these pamphlets is to enlist the help of commuters in the reporting of suspicious behavior in an effort to make traveling the railroads safer for everyone. The pamphlets provide infor-mation on how to report suspicious activity and a phone number (1-888-NYC-SAFE) for commuters to call when they observe a suspicious person or event. In addition, the pamphlets provide maps of the all MTA Railroad and Subway lines as well as pertinent phone numbers for various MTA services. This event was organized by Garden City Police Commissioner Ernest Cipullo and MTA Captain John Castagna. Commissioner Cipullo states "This joint operation is just an example of how well the Garden City and MTA Police Departments work together in the detection and prevention of offenses that threaten the well being and safety of the commu-nity." Commissioner Cipullo and Captain Castagna would like to remind everyone that they should always call 911 when they observe a crime in progress or a serious incident that is actually occurring.
