The American Legion Auxiliary of Garden City Post 265 honors Ms. Megan Belger and Elizabeth De Bold as their representative in the Girls State Program for 2008. These young ladies have recently completed their Junior Year in Garden City High School and are in the upper third of their class. Their selection was gained in a competitive interview by members of the Auxiliary.

The girls State Program is a non-partisan attempt to teach a love of God and country to our youth.

Girls state affords these young ladies an opportunity to live together as self governing citizens in a mythical 51st state.

They will learn the duties and opportunities that they will assume as they become adults. It is on the job training in our democratic system. It allows them a short week together to do and learn about our democracy. The location is S.U.N.Y., Brockport. From June 20 thru July 5. They are indeed our future.
