GC Bombers Baseball Announces Instruction Program

Garden City Bombers 2007 Pitching star Dmitri Seredenko pitches in Barcelona Spain during the Olympic qualifier.
The Garden City Bombers Travel Baseball Club announces that it is forming a 5-6 year old instructional baseball program for children ages 5 and 6. The program will be held Saturday afternoons and Thursday evenings, from April 19 and continuing through mid-June. Each session or game will be 75 minutes long.

"The program is taught exclusively by professional instructors, with a focus on fundamental skills", said Lou Santos, head coach of the program. "We have found in programs that young children are often taught fundamentals of hitting and fielding incorrectly at young ages by parent-coaches. Most high school players in Garden City have incorrect hitting form, such as extending their arms, which are almost impossible to correct in older players. By teaching young children fundamentals correctly at a young age, we expect to eliminate many of the mechanical problems that they would otherwise have when they get older".

The program is designed to be complementary to little league. The esteemed Coach Donald Londolphi, will also coach in this program.

The fee for this instructional program is $95 per child. Military families pay only $10. Interested parents should call (516) 946-1246, or write to GCBombers@aol.com

The Garden City Bombers Baseball club has served Garden City since 1999. Last year, the older Bombers team played in Tiger Town in Lakeland Florida during the winter break, and in July traveled to Santo Domingo to play teams from throughout the Dominican Republic, in competitions with the support of Major League Baseball. This spring season, there Bombers have teams in the following age groups: 6 years old under, 10 and under, 11 and under, 12 and under, 13 and under, and 14 years old. Preference for all programs is given to Garden City residents. Interested families can email GCBombers@aol.com
