On Sunday, April 6, Ethical Issues in the News, will be presented by the Ethical Humanist Society of LI, and on the first Sunday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Society located at 38 Old Country Rd. The Garden City Clergy Fellowship sponsors monthly Faith in Action events, where members of various faith communities gather together to make sandwiches and assemble bag lunches to feed the needy. Each lunch consists of a sandwich, cookies, a juice box and a piece of fruit. Some 300-500 lunches are made at each event and then delivered to the Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead. Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On March 31, PO Oswald arrested a 35-year-old Indianapolis man for allegedly failing to signal a turn, improper turn, and various other traffic law violations, including a suspended license, and alleged DWI (.09%) at Washington Avenue... On March 29, 9:40 PM, a man described as white, 16 years old, 5' 6"tall, 130 lbs., wearing dark sweats and a gray hoodie sweat shirt, attempted to rob a woman of her hand bag at Stratford Avenue... PO Bandl, on the same day, stopped a 24-year-old Hewlett man for allegedly speeding at 47 in a 30 mph zone at New Hyde Park Rd. He was also allegedly DWI (.12%) and he vomited on himself...Someone took a $300 GPS and a $35 Blackberry charger from an unlocked car parked at Lefferts Rd. on March 26 overnight... On the same evening, a $500 Tom Tom was taken from a car parked at John Street... PO Bandl arrested a 25-year-old Garden City Park man for alleged DWI (.11%), numerous traffic law violations, and 2 counts of a controlled substance; Xanax and steroids, at New Hyde Park Rd... PO Jacobsen arrested a 25-year-old Hempstead man for (10 suspensions, 3 dates) aggravated unlicensed operation, and an outstanding traffic warrant from Hempstead, after the motorist was stopped for not having brake lights at Franklin Avenue on March 29... On March 28, PO Jacobsen arrested a 25-year-old Wyandanch man for aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree ( 3 suspensions, 3 dates)at Rockaway Avenue...On March 31, a truck stop was conducted at Clinton Road, where 7 trucks were inspected with 6 trucks taken out of service and 37 tickets issued...

Fire Responses:

FD located smoldering mulch on the center median at Ring Road on March 26... Steam from a first floor bath activated an alarm at a Locust Street house on March 27... Arcing occurred at a light pole at Clinch Avenue on April 1...
