News From The Children's Room

During the week of March 31st through April 3rd the Preschoolers & Little Listeners will celebrate Outrageous Hat Day at their storytimes. Have your child wear his or her favorite hat!

The Children's Librarians have been creating a new and improved Children's area. We are currently showcasing Juvenile Fiction books for Grades 1-5, recommended by your favorite children's librarians, on our new display shelves! New picture books, non-fiction and juvenile fiction books are also featured. The new Special Needs collection has been expanded with some new titles. A new mural, based on Little Snow White, a 1812 Grimm's Fairy tale, has been created above the story room door by artist and library aide Liane Mallon, and the children's room has been painted in warm inviting colors.

The Winter Book Discussions are now finished. Preparation is currently underway for the Summer Book Discussions and will be announced very shortly.

Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
