Patriettes Win First Waldbaums Cup Game
 | | Caitlin Kaczynski maintains control with opponent at her side
|
| The Garden City U11 Patriettes played their first round Walbaums Cup game on Saturday March 15th against Wantagh/Seaford Revolution. A cold day heated up quickly for the Patriettes with the first goal of the game coming within 5 minutes. The forwards of Kristen Adams, Caitlin Kaczynski and Kelly McDonnell continued to put pressure on the opposing teak goal. With the midfield of Annie Kane, Margot McTiernan and Cailee McCarthy the Patiriettes scored their second goal half way thru the first half. As the half continued, midfielders Alexis Leighton, Laurel Nothel and Maddy Stone kept pushing the ball up field helping the Patriettes score one more goal before the end of the first half making it 3-0 at intermission. The defense of Jillian Curtin, Julia Biscardi, Erin Rode and Christie Pflume did an outstanding job of making sure the ball did not get towards their own goal.. Even if the opponents did get thru the defense Isabel Balady made sure no shot got by her and into the net. In the second half the Patriettes continued their solid passing and controlling all 50/50 balls and scored two more goals. The final score was 5-0 and the Patriettes are on to the second round of the Waldbaums cup. After the game the girls received t-shirts and patches for winning their division's sportsmanship award for the fall season. Congratulations and good luck in your next game girls.
