Sal Catania, a local resident, explained the principals of how to write a press release. Everyone received a copy of "The Garden City News" (courtesy of editor Meg Norris) and Sal went through the sections explaining various aspects of newspaper reporting. While many in the group probably will not use these new-found skills, Sal nevertheless captivated the audience with his humor and knowledge of the subject matter. Those present were given the opportunity to write a press release. After comparing the writing samples (amidst much laughter), the seniors agreed that all had passed the grade and could now successfully write a press release. Following the presentation, coffee and St. Patrick's Day cake were served.
