CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EASTER PARADE The Annual Easter Festival and Antique Car Parade, sponsored by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. The parade will step off from Parking Field 9E and will proceed south on Franklin Avenue to Seventh Street, west to Hilton Avenue. Easter bunnies will be on Seventh Street during the parade. Please take time from your busy day and bring the family down to see a great Garden City event.
ST PAUL'S UPDATE On the recommendation of former Chair Trustee John Mauk, and with the concurrence of the members of the Committee, I have appointed Trustee Tom Lamberti to replace Trustee John Mauk as Chairman of the Mayor's Committee on St. Paul's. Trustee Lamberti has assured me the Committee's work will go forward, and he is working diligently to bring forth the best possible options from AvalonBay for consideration by Garden City's public before any final decision is made by the Board of Trustees.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETINGS The next Board of Trustees Meeting will be the Annual Organizational Meeting, on April 7, 2008. The meeting will be held in the Board Room at Village Hall.
VILLAGE ELECTION - TUESDAY, MARCH 18, 2008 The annual Village Election will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 12 Noon until 9:00 p.m. at Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue. Village residents will be voting for the following candidates:

BrudieTrustee - 2 year term Since the incorporation of the Village in 1919, members of the Board of Trustees in Garden City have been elected by a non-partisan vote of residents in accordance with the policies of the Community Agreement. GARDEN CITY 2007 GOVERNMENT FINANCE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION AWARD We were pleased to learn from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada this week that the Village's Comprehensive Annual Finance Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended May 31, 2007 earned a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is the twelfth consecutive year that the Village has received this national recognition. Special thanks are due to our Village Auditor, James Olivo and our Deputy Village Treasurer, Frank Kelly.
E-CYCLING PROGRAM The Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department will conduct an e-cycling day on March 15, 2008 in Levittown in the Town of Hempstead municipal parking lot area, located just off Division Avenue behind the Tri-County Market (Hempstead Turnpike) in Levittown. All computer and computer components, televisions, DVD players and VCRs will be accepted for recycling. Residents are encouraged to properly dispose of electronic products, to prevent hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium and chromium, from entering the waste stream. For more information on e-cycling, residents should call the Town of Hempstead Department of Sanitation at 378-2200. Directions to the town's Division Avenue parking lot are as follows: From Wantagh Parkway-take exit W3 East, proceed on Hempstead Turnpike for 1/4 mile and make a left onto Division Avenue. Make a right into the parking lot and follow signs for e-cycling event. The town's e-cycling program is open to Town of Hempstead residents only (no businesses or non-commercial vehicles only).
