"Five Reasons To Visit Your Gyn"

Winthrop-University Hospital's Women's Wellness Series will offer a free lecture, "Give Reasons to Visit your GYN," on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 7:00 PM. It will be held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, located at 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola.

The demands of work, home and family sometimes make it difficult for women to find the time to take care of their own healthcare needs. That's why an annual visit to the gynecologist is so important; it can provide a comprehensive approach to prevention and keep a woman's health on track.

Jessica M. Ventimiglia, MD, Attending Gynecologist at Winthrop, will discuss a gynecologist's approach to women's wellness, highlighting the background, diagnostic tests and screening recommendations for women's major health concerns. Topics to be discussed will include cervical, breast, ovarian and colon cancers, as well as osteoporosis. A question and answer period will follow.

Attendees are asked to arrive for registration at 6:45 PM; parking and the entrance are in the rear of the building. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Reservations are required. To reserve your space, please call 1-888-53-WOMEN.

The Women's Wellness Series is a community health education program coordinated by Women's Health Services, part of Winthrop's Institute for Family Care. Winthrop is also a member of Spirit of Women(r), a coalition of American hospitals and healthcare providers that ascribe to high standards of excellence in women's health, education and community outreach.
