Resurrection Lutheran Church To Host Choir The members and friends of Resurrection invite all in the community to a choir concert on Friday, March 7, 2008, at 7:00 PM. The A Cappella Choir from Concordia Lutheran High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a 52-member mixed ensemble of upperclassmen, one of five choirs from the school. Each year the choir engages in a tour to share a concert of sacred music. Recent tour destinations have included California, North Carolina, Florida, Minnesota, and Ontario, Canada. The choir will present sacred music from several choral styles and traditions, including Psalm settings, hymn arrangements, chant style, and spirituals. Some composers represented in this year's repertoire include Larry Fleming (Sing and Ponder), Walter Pelz (Psalm 121), Knut Nystedt (Be Not Afraid), Paul Christiansen (This Is My Father's World), William Dawson (Ain-A That Good News), and John Rutter (Open Thou Mine Eyes). Within the choir is a smaller ensemble of 19 voices, the Chamber Singers, as well as an instrumental quartet of violin, viola, cello, and flute, who will also present several selections. The ensembles are conducted by Timothy LaCroix, Director of Choral Music and instructor of German at the school. A free-will donation will be taken at the concert. All are welcome. Resurrection is located at 420 Stewart Avenue. Parking is available on Emmet Place and Devereux Place. For more information, please call 746-4426.
