Garden City Senior News The Recreation Department is planning a trip on February 27th to the fascinating Cradle of Aviation Museum. The Recreation bus will take us to lunch at Tin Alley Grill for lunch and then we will head to the museum for the afternoon. The cost of this trip will be $20. Space is limited and preregistration and payment is necessary. To register, please visit the Recreation Admistrative Offices next door to St. Paul's Senior Center on the grounds of the St. Paul's Athletic Complex.
computer classroom series registration begins We are pleased to be offering the Computer Kindergarten Series again this year. Taught by the wonderful women from Sharper Training Solutions, this series of computer classes runs from Kindergarten through sixth grade as each week it gives you basic knowledge on different aspects of your home computer. This very popular program will run on Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon beginning Thursday, February 14 th, in St. Paul's Senior Center. The cost of this seven week program will be $60. Space is limited to 24 people and preregistration is necessary. senior trips planned for this year The Recreation Department has secured seats for the following trips through Prime Time Travel. Our seats are open to any senior resident of the Village of Garden City and their guests. Here is the list of trips offered with their dates and prices: Tuesday, April 15 - Museum of Natural History - Manhattan - $59 Tuesday, May 6 - Tour of the Culinary Institute with Lunch at the Caterina De Medici - $83 Tuesday, May 27 - Lower Manhattan - The Immigrant Experience - $52 Wednesday, June 11 - Chelsea Market - A Tasting and Walking Tour - $80 Tuesday, Sept. 23 - Trip to West Point and Cruise on the Hudson - $89 Tuesday, October 7 - Manhattan Bateaux Cruise and a Visit to Forbes Museum - $75 Tuesday, October 21 - Tour of the United Nations and Lunch in the Delegates Dining Room - $83 Registration is ongoing, first come, first served, with only 20 seats available for each trip. A deposit of $25 is necessary to reserve each seat. Checks must be made payable to "Prime Time Travel." Because these seats are taken by the Recreation Department on consignment, anyone wanting to attend any trip in April or May must have their deposit in by February 15 th. We will receive a one hour docent led tour through this amazing exhibit and as well as viewing the incredible space show and a special feature in the IMAX theatre. Lunch will be on your own. The cost of this trip will be $59. Transportation will be provided by Prime Time's coach bus. We have a limit of 20 seats for this trip. enjoy a tour of the culinary institute in Hyde park Have you ever been in a restaurant and wondered how the chef learned his trade? By attending this trip, you will visit one of the premier "colleges" for culinary arts in the United States. You will have an opportunity to not only taste the food but tour this well known institute. You will also enjoy a full course luncheon at "Catorina de Medici," one of the two restaurants at the Institute that is entirely run by the students. This trip will take place on Tuesday, May 6 and is run by Prime Time Travel. The cost of this trip will be $83. Transportation will be provided by Prime Time's coach bus. Our trip, sponsored by the Recreation Department and run through Prime Time Travel, will be held on Tuesday May 27 th. We will travel to Lower Manhattan where we will visit the Irish Famine Memorial, South Street Seaport, and the Tenement Museum, where we will step back in time while listening to a young girl tell us the story of her life at 97 Orchard Street. Lunch will be on your own at South Street Seaport. The cost of this trip will be $52. Transportation will be provided by Prime Time's coach bus. We have a limit of 20 seats for this trip.
