Costa Rica's Rain Forest To Be Subject Professor Betsy Gulotta will be the speaker at the meeting of the Community Club on Thursday, February 21st at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden City Casino. Mrs. Gulotta has led field trips to Costa Rica from 1994 to 2007 as part of a course in Field Biology at Nassau Community College. She is the recipient of many awards including an award from NISOD (The National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development), recognizing teaching excellence in Community Colleges, The N.Y. State Chancellors' Award for Excellence in Teaching - Nassau Community College and in 2007 The Environmental Stewardship Award from the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. The lecture will include a slide show illustrating the importance of the rain forest in Costa Rica, emphasizing the fragile interdependence of life in this very rich biological habitat. Rosemary McCarthy, Chairman of the Americanism/Current Events Department, invites Community Club members and their guests to join her at the tea hour following the program. The Community Club offers a variety of programs, trips and creative art classes from October through May.
