Members of the Colonel Aaron Ogden Chapter of the , and a few brave husbands, toured Belmont Raceway on a beautiful Fall day, and learned about the history of racing.
The Colonel Aaron Ogden chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSOAR) kicked off its fall season of programs with a visit to Belmont Racetrack on September 8, to hear chapter member Lynn Veitch speak about the history of horse racing in "Our Agrarian Past." Lynn's talk was supplemented by chapter member Mary Poole, who added her personal knowledge of racing along with a scarf commemorating an historic race.

The tour of the Belmont racetrack concluded with a luncheon in their restaurant, which provided a bird's eye view of the day's races.

Members were pleased to witness the running of the Garden City Breeders Cup, which was sponsored by the Garden City Historical Society. Members of the chapter were honored to be present in the winner's circle that day, along with Garden City Mayor Peter Bee, and Belmont raceway representative and Historical Society member Joanne Adams.
