The Garden City Public Library's expansion and renovation of the Young Adult is nearing completion. Throughout the holiday week, workers put the finishing touches on the library's entrance and lobby. The Young Adult collection was moved to the newly renovated and enlarged area located along the Seventh Street side of the building. Carpet and shelving were also installed in the periodical/reading room. Both the Young Adult area and the reading room await the arrival of seating and other furnishings.
The Library's reconstruction project consists of renovating the lobby, enlarging the Young Adult department, refurbishing the adult lounge into a periodical/reading room, and creating a larger quiet study area. The renovation also includes the conversion of a storage area on the lower level of the library into an audio-visual room and a computer lab with more than 20 Internet workstations. Work on the lower level computer and media center is also drawing to a close.
