Catherine Basel and Christopher Ryan. Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Franz and Mr. and Mrs. William J. Basel of Garden City are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Catherine Mary Basel, to Christopher John Ryan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ryan of Homosassa, Florida, formerly of North Bellmore, New York.

Catherine is a 1999 graduate of Garden City High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH. She earned her MA in Education from Adelphi University, N.Y in 2007. She is currently employed as a Search Consultant with the Landstone Group in Manhattan.

Christopher is a 1991 graduate of Chaminade High School, Mineola, NY and a 1995 graduate of University of Scranton, Scranton, PA., where he received both his BA and MA in history. He is currently employed as a Veterans Service Representative at the Department of Veterans Affairs and a Personal Fitness Trainer at the Garden City Personal Training Studio.

An August 2009 wedding is planned.
