Deputy Mayor Won't Seek Higher Office
      Deputy Mayor John Mauk, who was next in line to be the Mayor of the Village of Garden City in April, has declined to be interviewed for the position. He will continue to serve as a Village trustee from the Estates section.

Board Approves Demolition Study For St. Paul's, Cuts Ties With AvalonBay
      At its Dec. 18th meeting, the Garden City Board of Trustees unanimously voted to cancel the Memorandum of Understanding with AvalonBay Communities, Inc., and in a 7 to 1 vote, agreed to hire the law firm of Sive, Paget & Riesel, P.C., to study the impact, if any, demolition of Ellis Hall and the historic Main Building would have on the environment.

      The demolition study will likely not be completed before the composition of the Garden City Board of Trustees changes. On Dec. 18th, the Board hired Sive, Paget & Riesel, P.C. to conduct an environmental study of the impact, if any, demolition of Ellis Hall and the historic Main Building would have on the environment.

Village Clerk Earns Designation By Stephanie Mariel
      Petrellese Village Clerk Brian Ridgway recently earned the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. The CMC designation program is designed to enhance the job performance of the clerk in small and large municipalities. To earn the CMC designation, Ridgway had to attend extensive education programs.

Teens Learn Babysitting Skills At The Library
      Young adults who participated in the December two-part babysitting workshop at the Garden City Library are pictured with the dolls and stuffed animals they used to practice the first aid and child care techniques taught at the first session of the workshop.
