More ... GCAA Basketball Intramurals finished its second week of intramurals with two exciting Monday night 12-15 contests. Garden City's boys JVA basketball team played two home games recently. On Tuesday December 9th the team faced the Mepham Pirates. Garden City lost that game 47-29. At the Trojans next home game on December 16th GC put up a good fight but ultimately lost to Division by a score of 46-38. The Trojans will host East Meadow at 5:30pm today, Friday December 19th. More ... Only five games into the season and Garden City's girls basketball team is already proving that they are a force to be reckoned with. As of December 13th they are 5-0 and have outscored their opponents by a total of over 100 points. Junior Diana Leondis has been unstoppable, leading the team in scoring, averaging 16 points a game. More ... During the Holiday Recess, the Garden City Recreation Department will offer a gym program for children in the Saint Paul's Fieldhouse on December 26, 29, 30 and January 2. This program is open to youngsters of the Inc. Village of Garden City only. More ... This season we are honored once again to be selected to host a JrNBA/JrWNBA Skills Challenge. This great FREE event is open to everyone...including non-participants in our program. Last year we had numerous contestants receive regional and national honors. The Skills Challenge is expected to be Wednesday January 30th 7pm for Girls and Wednesday February 6th 7pm for Boys. More ... GCAA now has over 1,087 kids in their basketball program, including 809 kids playing GCAA intramurals in St. Paul's on Saturdays. Garden City's boys varsity basketball team is off to a good start with a 2-1 record including victories over Division and Mepham. The win over Division came on Tuesday evening December 16th at GCHS. Reid Rosello scored seven of his 19 points in the fourth quarter including two free throws with 24 seconds left to give Garden City the 56-52 victory. More ... |
