Students Walk To Raise Suicide Prevention Awareness
On Sunday, October 5th, students from Garden City High School's SADD club, Health and AP Psychology classes participated in the Out of Darkness Walk at Old Westbury Gardens. The walk was held to heighten awareness of suicide prevention. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the leading not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education, and to reach out to people with mood disorders and those impacted by suicide.
Thanks to Ms. Kuster (social worker), Ms. Khan (guidance counselor), Ms. Caputo (AP Psychology teacher) and Ms. Pompino (health teacher) the students were able to bring suicide awareness back to their classrooms and share with their peers.
