The morning began with a tour of the historic house and its many features. They learned about the occupants of the home and how they spent their days.

Then the children were divided into groups and received instruction in various tasks. The students each made a horn book. Children of long ago learned to do penmanship on their horn book. The students also played games and dressed in period clothing.

Kitchen duties for the second-graders included making an apple pie and cornbread. They enjoyed their pie and bread on the porch of the beautiful home. The students enjoyed the morning and appreciated all the modern conveniences we have today.
