Italian Author Presents At Garden City High School

2008-12-19 / School

The Italian 4 Honors class was recently honored to have special guest author, Paola Corso, an award-winning Italian-American fiction writer and poet, speak with the students about the art of writing fairytales. Ms. Corso helped to inspire ideas in the minds of the young students who are currently writing their own fairy tales. The noted author prompted students by giving them story ideas using examples she has written and published, such as excerpts from her famous book of poems, Giovanna's 86 Circles and Other Stories. The students then brainstormed ideas and Ms. Corso assisted them by expanding upon the thoughts they had for their own fairytales.

It was a great opportunity to have this accomplished writer advise the students, share her ideas, and provide encouragement. Her influence will surely show in the completion of their stories. We hope Ms. Corso will be able to visit our class again and share more of her vast knowledge of writing and the Italian-American culture. (By Kelsey Quinn, Class of 2010)
