New York Times bestselling author and Long Island resident Nelson DeMille was the final guest of the year at the Books in the Ballroom series at Old Westbury Gardens. On Wednesday evening, December 10th, Mr. DeMille, accompanied by his wife Sandy, graciously wrote personalized messages in many dozens of copies of his latest book, The Gate House. Following the signing, Mr. DeMille's fans were treated to a talk by the author and a question and answer period, followed by a wine and hors d'oeurves reception on the West Porch. The evening, which was hosted by the Friends of Old Westbury Gardens, also provided visitors with the opportunity to take a tour of Westbury House during our Annual Holiday Celebration, in which room is beautifully and festively decorated by members of our horticulture and house staff.
