Assemblyman Wants To Keep His Constituents Warm

2008-12-19 / Community

Assemblyman Tom McKevitt would like to inform his constituents on was to keep warm this winter with the help from the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. This state agency is administering a program known as the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) that will help low-income families heat there homes during these cold months.

With the economic crisis that we are dealing with at this time, it may be very difficult for some low-income families to afford proper heating systems and also being able to pay off those heating bills. "My main concern is that all of my constituents receive the best quality care that the local and federal government can provide. For that reason I encourage everyone who feels they need help this winter to reach out and utilize this program" McKevitt stated. The HEAP Program includes the regular HEAP Benefits that will help to reduce the financial burden imposed on constituents due to increased heating prices. HEAP Benefits for emergency related heat issues which are based on income, available resources, the number of household members, and the primary fuel type. The HEAP Program will assist in repairing or replacing old furnaces.

HEAP is a federally funded program whose main objective is to help low-income families heat their homes throughout the winter. It is a great opportunity for those who feel they cannot afford to properly heat their homes for themselves and family members.
