District Disavows Involvement In Security Breach
      The Garden City School District is assuring residents via their Web site that they were not involved in any way with a recent security breach involving an outside computer consulting company. The district posted the following message on their home page: "It has come to our attention that e-mail addresses of some Garden City parents were posted on a web site.

HOLA's Winter 2009 Spanish Classes
      The Spanish Class program is available to children in grades K-5 and will be offered on Mondays at Stratford School. The 10 week session will begin January 5th and end March 23rd. There will be two classes given on Mondays. Las Iguanas Class: 4:00-5:00pm (K-1st grades) and Los Toros Class: 5:00-6:00pm (2nd-5th grades).

Middle School Students In Art Exhibit
      Two students from Ms. Lori Rousku's Garden City Middle School eighth grade art class, Shannon Carman (left) and Anne Foxen (right), have been chosen to show their artwork at the 19th Annual Legislative Student Art Exhibition hosted by NYSATA (New York State Art Teacher's Association). The exhibition will take place Friday, Jan. 16 - Jan. 23. Opening reception will be Tuesday, Jan.

Garden City Schools Celebrate Thanksgiving
      "Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go...," sharply clear and gleefully loud the lyrics rang out as students in Garden City's primary and elementary schools celebrated Thanksgiving 2008 on November 23rd, 24th and 25th with concerts, plays, recitations, and feasts.

Second-Graders Visit Library
      Miss McCavera's second-grade class took an annual trip to the Garden City Library. The children gathered together in the reading room and listened to many wonderful seasonal and holiday stories. They viewed the short video "Max's Words." They had the chance to choose books to take home with them. They are grateful to the staff at the library for their time and attention.

Lucky Night For Garden City Nursery School
      On Friday, November 14th, Garden City Nursery School held its second annual Casino Night at Stewart Manor Country Club. Parents, teachers and staff enjoyed cocktails and hor d'oeurves while trying their luck at Craps, Roulette, and Blackjack tables. An exciting Poker Tournament rounded out the activities. The event was well-attended and everyone had a fantastic evening.

St. Joseph School At The Franklin Institute
      The seventh and eighth graders from St. Joseph's School took a trip to Pennsylvania to visit the Franklin Institute. They were treated to several small group setting seminars on landforms, energy and saw Robert Redford's IMAX production detailing the fall of water levels in the Arizona area. College Notes
      Keith DeCarlo a 2002 graduate of Garden City High school was awarded his Masters degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University, in Alfred, NY in September 2008. Engineers and Scientists create and combine ceramic materials for specific purposes and new applications. Keith is currently working as both an research assistant and teaching assistant at Alfred University.
