GCAA Basketball Intramurals Ready To Start

2008-12-05 / Sports

All the drafts for the 52 GCAA Intramural Teams are now done. All the teams, coaches and schedule are posted on the GCAA website, www.gc-aa.com. Players in grades 2nd through 8th should have been notified of team placement by now with the exception of players in K-1 and the Boys 7-8. These groups will be not be contacted but should rather just show up at the designated time on Sat Dec 6th (K-1 at 12:45 and 7-8 Boys at 6:00 both at St. Paul's.) We have accommodated as many late sign ups as we can handle but at this point our 5-6 Boys league is full as is our 4th grade boys league. We are still accepting applications, on a space available basis, for the other grade divisions. In future years, please make sure you sign up for GCAA Basketball. We have had a number players signing up late for GCAA since they originally registered for a non-GCAA league by mistake. If your child's name is not on the GCAA website under the master list (K-1) or on a team listed on the GCAA website in the child's applicable grade, please contact the coordinators listed below. K-1 players will not be contacted in advance so all K-1 players should show up at ST. Paul's at 12:45 PM Saturday to sign in, get their jersey and participate in the 1-2 PM clinic.

If you have an interest in signing up, please download the application from the website and send it in as soon as possible so you do not get closed out. The season will start Sat December 6th and run thru mid March. Our dates of play are as follows Dec 6, Dec 13, Dec 20, Jan 3, Jan 10, Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31, Feb 7, Feb 28, March 7 and March 14th. Given court time constraints, some 5-6 Boys games will be played during the week as described on the website. Eight of the Twelve 5-6 Boys teams will play on Saturdays and 4 team will rotate while playing some games weeknights.

We will have open play on Sat Feb 14th and Sat Feb 21st but no official intramural games on these two dates. In addition to the games on Saturdays, we will conduct grade based clinics or grade practices usually on Monday nights. More details on the grade based clinics/grade practices will be posted on the website shortly.

The GCAA application can be downloaded from the GCAA website www.gc-aa.com by clicking on the basketball link and then clicking on the intramural application link. PLEASE NOTE WE NOW HAVE A LEAGUE FOR 2nd and 3rd grade girls and THEY WILL PLAY GAMES. Due to our overwhelming support, we have formed a 2-3 girls league, a 4-5 girls league and a 6-8 girls league. Our 2nd grade boys PLAY GAMES as do our 2-3 Girls. We are also offering a 7-8 Boys league and the boys will run their own teams with one adult supervisor per game to ensure GCAA fair play guidelines are followed. The 7-8 boys games will have refs and clocks. Please make sure you sign up for the GCAA program, the one in existence for 50 years with an extensive array of volunteers, the one with 52 intramural teams, the one with a 2nd grade boys league with games, the one with a 2-3 grade girls league now with games, the one with over 16 travel teams. GCAA is still the One!

REGISTRATION DEADLINE WAS OCTOBER 15th. Late fees apply after this date. Sign up now before divisions get closed out. Some divisions are closed already!

All of our Saturday games will be at St. Paul's for the divisions below at the times designated below with exception of 5-6 Boys who will have 4 games (8 teams) on Saturdays and 2 games (4 teams) on Monday/Tuesday nights given the 12 team size of that division.
