On November 23, the Holy Spirit/St. Anne's Cross country team competed in the Region 1 Junior Olympic Championships. With very windy and cold conditions, on one of the most difficult courses in the country (Van Cortland Park in the Bronx), the team competed at a high level and ran their best times of the season. Special congratulations to Stephanie Gerland who finished 7th out of 113 Bantam girls to qualify for the National Championships in Virginia on December 13th. Our team had the largest contingent of participants of any Long Island team. Coaches Bob Schuler and Ed Woods would like to congratulate the entire team on a successful championship season and express what an honor it was for us to coach this talented, smart and dedicated team of athletes.
