"Go Green" Sneaker Collection At Locust School

Locust School students, like these kindergartners pictured with Principal Jean Ricotta, recently did their part to raise environmental awareness and support recycling by collecting dozens of pairs of sneakers to be processed for a second life as sports surfaces, including children's playgrounds. Locust's "Go Green" sneaker collection drive was held in November in conjunction with Nike's "REUSE A Shoe" program which collects the donated shoes for recycling at the Nike Outlet Center in Riverhead.
