Environmental Awareness Through Art
"Bash The Trash" at Stratford School
Bash the Trash is a group of artists and educators who teach environmental awareness through the arts. This musical performance came to Stewart School on September 23, 2008 and Stratford School on September 25, 2008. Students at both schools were treated to a vibrant science program. Bash the Trash performers showed the students how to create and play with musical instruments made from "trash". This interactive performance took the children on a journey into sound, science and music through the creation of these instruments from recycled material. Bash the Trash's musical performance encouraged environmental awareness and creativity in daily life. The students were enthusiastic participants in this endeavor. Bash the Trash was truly not your ordinary recycling show.
While this program was thoroughly entertaining and enjoyed by all the students it had a very important and timely message. The students were taught about the idea of Reduce/Reuse/Recycle. We hope many of these students will be inspired to use these "green" ideas in their everyday lives.
This program was coordinated by the Arts in Education Committee of the Garden City PTA and the GCUFSD Administration and funded by the Garden City Union Free School District.
