Congratulations to Garden City High School senior, Juliana Ortego, pictured here with Principal Nanine Cuttitta, for being selected as a Scholar in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). Of the 200,000 students who entered this year's program, just under 5,000 have been chosen for this recognition. More ... On November 4th, students in Garden City High School's Help Our Planet Earth (H.O.P.E.) Club enjoyed the last days of fall by hiking the beautiful trails in Suffolk County's West Hills Park. This picture was taken of the group at a place on the trail called Jayne's Hill, the highest point on Long Island with an elevation of 401.0 feet above sea level. More ... Mrs. Lupo's second grade class took a trip into history when they visited the Sands-Willets House in Pt. Washington. The children baked corn bread and apple pie, played games and practiced their letters, all by using the methods and traditions of the 1700s. They dressed up and listened to music from the same period. Everyone had a great time while learning about local history. More ... This musical performance came to Stewart School on September 23, 2008 and Stratford School on September 25, 2008. Students at both schools were treated to a vibrant science program. More ... More ... "The History of A.T. Stewart's Garden City" class finished the five week course with a night in the Cathedral of the Incarnation. The course, offered through the Continuing Education Department of the Public Schools, was taught by Village Historian John Ellis Kordes. The class was held on Monday nights in the High School and Kordes arranged for the last class to be held in the Cathedral. More ... More ... Alexandra Attardi, 9, of Garden City, will be dancing the leading role as Clara in "The Nutcracker Ballet (Land of Snow and Kingdom of the Sweets)." She will be one of 70 children from the Great Neck School of Dance who will join with 10 professional dancers currently performing with The American Ballet Russe and previously performing with companies like The Bolshoi Ballet. More ... The Kindergarten and First Grade students and their families joined together with the Parish Families in Service Ministry to make sandwiches for the homeless. Over 2000 sandwiches along with hundreds of bags of Halloween candy were delivered to the Inn in Hempstead. More ... Second-graders in Miss McCavera's class at Stratford School recently performed the play "The Unexpected Guests" for parents, relatives and friends. This culminated weeks of preparation for the play. The students worked on memorizing their lines, remembering their cues and giving expression to their words and actions. More ... Continuing a long tradition at St Anne's school, the first grades portrayed the saints on October 23 and put on a very special assembly for the school. First grade teachers Miss Hein and Mrs. Riccobono work hard to prepare the students to memorize their lines. More ... On Monday, October 27th grades K-1 from Hemlock, Homestead and Locust primary schools had the pleasure of gathering at Stratford for a production of Theatre Sports, an improvisational repertory theatre group.
