The residents of Garden City have voted, and now it is up to the Board of Trustees to decide the fate of the historic Main Building at St. Paul's. Last week, the students in grades 6 - 8 held their annual spelling bee. Each grade level held elimination rounds and the winners from those contests represented each grade for an intense challenge. The voters have spoken and it appears that they do not support the AvalonBay proposal. Given the need for state legislative action for that proposal to go forward, and that fact that Senator Hannon has said he would need to see widespread support before sponsoring legislation, it seems unlikely that this plan is going anywhere.
