Members of the Stewart Consort rehearse for the upcoming concert. On Sunday, December 7 at 4 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Incarnation, the Stewart Consort will be performing in its first concert. The Stewart Consort was formed about eight months ago by a group of singers from the Cathedral Choirs interested in performing Renaissance choral music in a chamber music setting at a high level. Amongst the selected musical pieces will be Madonna and Child - Motets and Carols for Advent and Christmas as well as primarily Renaissance music such as Laetentur Coeli of and O magnum Mysterium and Lullaby, my Sweet Little Baby by William Byrd, Ave Maria and Gaude Virgo by Josquin Deprez, and Ave Maria by Robert Parsons. There will also be a few more contemporary arrangements and new work written especially for the concert by James Ludwig, one of the basses in the Stewart Consort. Members of the Stewart Consort are Dana Delacorte, Katrina Montagna, Mat Tamke, Rich Scillia, Michael Plant, James Ludwig and Alistair Nelson, Associate Organist and Choirmaster of the Cathedral of the Incarnation. So all who enjoy Renaissance music or just good music come and enjoy this initial concert. The group will also be performing in February in Manhattan.
