Mrs. Florio, Science Department Chair, with her winning 8th grade scientists. The graduating eighth graders of St. Joseph's School won the prestigious NASA Quest challenge. NASA Quest connects K - 12 classrooms with people, research and science through mission-based interactions and activities. They are web-based interactive explorations designed to engage students in authentic scientific and engineering processes. The solutions relate to issues encountered daily by NASA personnel. The students, under the guidance of Science teacher Irene Florio, tackled the question: "What are the 'doldrums' and how do they affect an ocean voyage?"
