"Local Hero" Angela Papalia, bilingual social work supervisor at the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, signs her name to a BMW at the 12th Annual BMW Ultimate Drive Supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Angela Papalia, bilingual social work supervisor at the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, was recognized as a "Local Hero" at the 12th Annual BMW Ultimate Drive supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure recently at Rallye BMW in Westbury.

Ms. Papalia was selected for her efforts in the fight against breast cancer. At the event, Ms. Papalia's photograph and signature were affixed to one of the two BMW X5 Signature vehicles. Over its 11 years in existence, the BMW Ultimate Drive events have raised $11million for Komen for the Cure. The Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in turn provides grants to local breast health organizations and programs such as the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program.

She is a talented and empathetic social worker who has provided tremendous and important psychosocial support and counseling services to the Spanish-speaking community on Long Island. We are glad that BMW chose to recognize her for her tireless efforts to help underserved women throughout Long Island."
