Jr. NBA Skills Challenge

2008-11-21 / Sports

This season Garden City Basketball is honored once again to be selected to host a JrNBA/JrWNBA Skills Challenge. This great FREE event is open to everyone...including non-participants in our program. Last year we had numerous contestants receive regional and national honors. The Skills Challenge is expected to be Wednesday January 30th 7pm for Girls and Wednesday February 6th 7pm for Boys. Please email jskramko@optonline.net with subject "Jr NBA Skills Challenge" to indicate your interest in this event and to be placed on the notification/participation list to receive more info (like where we will be holding the event). In your email please include your childs name, age (as of May 2008), address, email, and phone number.

As a proud member of the JrNBA and JrWNBA, we suggest you select the JrNBA logo on our website for information about NBA Cares, free camps, and pledge to be a S.T.A.R. (sportsmanship, teamwork, attitude, & respect). Check out the links for Coaches, Players, and Parents. Each link will lead you to an awesome guide that provides valuable basketball information that everyone should read.

On Saturday November 15th, we returned to the Professional Athletic Performance Center for specialized sessions on Speed, Agility, and Quickness specifically tailored for the Garden City Basketball program. Over 60 of our participants attended one of four sessions that were at the state-of-the-art PAPC facility located at 645 Stewart Avenue behind the McDonalds. The Professional Athletic Performance Center will also be hosting one of our weeknight clinics at St Paul's as well as one of the K-1-2nd grade clinic stations on a Saturday morning at St Paul's. It is our pleasure to introduce our participants and their parents to some of the many athletic opportunities that exist for them beyond our intramural program.

On Sunday November 16th, some of our participants enjoyed the NY Knicks versus Mavericks game. The game was exciting and went to over-time. Unfortunately the Knicks lost but the kids still had fun! In the fall, a dozen of our participants were also at a NY Liberty game. All just part of the fun at Garden City Basketball!

We believe that Garden City Basketball has the vision, dedication, and sets the standard for youth basketball in the village of Garden City.

We look forward to you and your child being a part of our program. If there are any questions, please contact John Skramko at jskramko@optonline.net or 746-9659.
