Pastor Jeffrey Browning's installation as Senior Pastor of Resurrection Pastor Jeffrey Browning was installed as Senior Pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection recently. Previous to the joyful installation service, Browning served as Pastor of Programs and Activities under Pastor Bill Harmon, and then as interim pastor.

Together Harmon and Browning, who Dr. David Benke-President of the Atlantic District, called "The Dynamic Duo", sought to redefine Resurrection's challenging mission statement, to Share the saving message of Jesus Christ; to Care for those within and beyond the community; to Prepare hearts and minds to grow in faith; and to Dare to boldly live each day to the glory of Jesus Christ. Under their pastoral leadership, the Harmon/Browning team ignited Resurrection's ABLAZE movement by connecting with the unchurched, establishing new congregations, sharing the gospel, and reaching out into the community and beyond with the love of Christ.

For sixty years, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection has had a hands-on approach to its faith in action. Centered around the church's seven-days-a-week outreach method of evangelism are programs initiated to proclaim the Gospel, to engage the congregation, the community and to increase membership.

When Pastor Harmon answered the call to serve at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, Pastor Browning kept up the exhaustive momentum bringing an inspiring energy to his weekend sermons, book discussions, and weekly bible studies. Without interruption, he continued to galvanize the efforts of the congregation to make a multi-site satellite of Resurrection, THE LIFE at Westbury, a vital new ministry and church.

David Scheffel, President of Resurrection's Church Council has said, "It's amazing to think that over a sixty year period Resurrection has installed only three senior pastors. Pastor Jeff Browning becomes the fourth. He joins a short list of great men who have served this congregation and community with distinction."

As guest preacher at Browning's installation service, The Reverend Dr. Dien Taylor, of Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Bronx, pointed out so eloquently "... that by God giving us the gift of Pastor Browning he has, given this church (Resurrection) a unique responsibility and an amazing opportunity to be a beacon of hope, not only in this county, but in the world." He says, "I can't wait for all the wonderful things that are going to continue to happen at Resurrection through Pastor Browning, our spiritual leader."

Resurrection is a multi-site Christian community of faith.
