Garden City's Retired Men's Club Calendar Of Events

The Garden City Retired Men's Club is a non-profit membership organization formed in April 1961 for the purpose of providing educational and recreational activities for the retired male senior citizens of the Garden City Community. The organization is non-sectarian and non-political.

All retired men 55 years or older residing in the Incorporated Village of Garden City, in the state of New York are eligible for membership upon paying a five (5) dollar initiation fee. If you are eligible and interested to join us, please come by. Every Monday is Open House. Or call Joe Leto at 248-9022.

The Club House facility is located at No. 6 Golf Club Lane (directly behind Lord & Taylor parking lot). The building is open every day of the week, except Friday, and offers two regulation size pool tables, television, cards/table board games as well as outdoor bocce, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Our Program Committee is planning a very active speaker program. Come join us!

Lunch Program

Monday, December 8th IN HOUSE Party ($7.00 plus $2.00 for lucky bucks). Drinks are on the house . Come at 12 noon. Sip a little non-alcoholic beverage while we wait for food delivery at 12:30 p.m. Relax, play a few hands of cards or shoot a game of pool and enjoy the pleasant company of your fellow retirees. What better way to spend a quiet afternoon.

Long Range

Although we do not have a schedulued speaker for the month of December, George Salem will not rest. He booked us another winner. Monday, January 26th Ms. Eileen Beetar, a staff member of AAA will bring us up to date on motorist/pedestrian safety and winter driving tips. This subject is timely and will be beneficial to all.

Chess Is An Option

Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. seems to be working well for the chess group. Interested? Stop by for a short brush-up course by Walter Tomitz, and play a game or two. If you have an old chess set/board, bring it along. Please call Walter Tomitz at 354-0519 or Joe Leto at 248-9022 to let us know you are coming.

Calling All Poker Players

The Monday poker session is under way. A small group is enjoying a few hours of friendly poker. If you have an interest to spend a pleasant afternoon with a congenial bunch of poker players, we have a game waiting for you. A poker table will be set up on Monday for your playing pleasure. Luncheon Approaches

Time is geting short. Just a few more weeks and the day will arrive. Wednesday, December 17th is the date. Cherry Valley Country Club is the place. Hot hors d'oeuvres from 12 to 12:30 will start us off, then on to appetizer, salad, choice of entrée and a scrumptious dessert. Male guests are invited. The price is the same, $45 per person, for you and your guest. The reservation book is open. It's Flu Shot Time Again

Don't forget your flu shot (and pneumonia shot if you need it). Flu shots will be available at the Golf Club Lane Center on Tuesday, December 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 465-4075 after Monday, November 10th to put your name on the list. If you have a problem finding a flu shot location, call Joe Leto 248-9022.
