Recently we spent some time perusing the online archives of the New York Times using the search term "Garden City". It seems that the times now has a wealth of articles dating back into the 1870's recording major events in our history, including many dealing with the original construction of St. Paul's, Mrs. Stewart's death and the subsequent court fight over her will and the development of the village. The articles are free and are in .pdf format, so can be viewed by most computers.
