Community Club Learns Of Successful Program

The program, which offers prisoners serving short term sentences horticultural training, both in the classroom and in the garden, as well as a placement service following their term in prison, has reduced recidivism to a rate of 12%, as opposed to a national rate of 77%.
Rosemary McCarthy, chairman of the Americanism/Current Events Department of the Community Club was assisted by Marjorie Brown and Anne Marie Smith, who welcomed members at the door, Alice Dillon and May-Belle Schein who welcomed guests, Monica Haas and Margaret Heinrich who handled arrangements, Josephine Krawczyk, who did the spectacular Halloween decorations, and the hospitality committee, chaired by Genevieve Furman assisted by Eileen Bishop, Carol Countryman, Julia Fehler, Florence Freda and Emilie Sair.
