In the novel Evening by Susan Minot, sixty-five-year-old Ann Grant Lord, now in the evening of her life, reminisces about a special summer weekend some forty years earlier during which she met and lost the love of her life. Renowned for her superb use of precise language as well as her emotional insights, author Susan Minot renders her heroine's memories of love at first sight not only plausible but also enviable.
