Thunder D-Line ready for the snap of the ball
Thunder D-Line ready for the snap of the ball It was a gorgeous fall afternoon at Stewart Field in Garden City where the Garden City Thunder was preparing to play the 4th place playoff bound Farmingdale Hawks. The Thunder lost the coin flip and after that did not lose another thing! Farmingdale started with the ball and ran approximately 8 plays before turning it over on downs to the GC Thunder. On the Thunders first play from scrimmage, James Sullivan took off on a 60+ yard scamper to give the Thunder a 6 - 0 lead early in the game. Farmingdale received the next kickoff and had much of the same results as their first possession, defensive dominance by the Thunder! The Thunder defense was led by Brian Goulard, Lucas D'Aversa, Luke Armstrong, Ben Walsh, Matias Yianatos, Justin Holloway, Chris Repetti, Kevin Sprotte, Justin Samardich, Liam Byrnes, James Sullivan, Brian Colamussi, Colin Castro, Patrick Slovensky and Conor Muldoon. The Thunder offense also imposed their will on the Hawks and was led by the big boys up front dominating the line of scrimmage. The Thunder offense is led by Conor Muldoon, Justin Holloway, Darius Iraj, Jack Murtagh, Brian Goulard, Matthew Esposito, Chris Moscatiello, Daniel Krumm and Brian Colamussi. The aforementioned boys opened gaping holes in the Farmingdale Hawk defense allowing our backs to put one more running touchdown (Liam Byrnes knocked down two defenders with one great block for Sully's 2nd TD of the game) on the board as well as a touchdown pass from Matt Borges to Brian Colamussi making the halftime score 18 - 0 Garden City. The dominance on both sides of the ball continued in the second half by the Thunder, relentless blocking, tackling and running by the boys called the THUNDER! The coaching staff was very proud of how hard everyone on our team worked to achieve this big win, we keep asking the boys for more and they keeping getting better!!! When time expired on the clock, it was GC Thunder 24, Farmingdale Hawks 8. That pushes the record of the Thunder to 6 - 1 heading into the biggest game of the year against the undefeated Massapequa Mustangs. Game time next Sunday November 2 at Burns Park in Massapequa is 1:00. GO THUNDER!!!!!!!
