Volunteer Firefighter Receives Award
Nasssau County Fire Commissioner Rick Gardner, Assistant Chief Bill Graham, Supervisor Kate Murray, Firefighter Larry Kenny, Mayor Peter Bee, Chief James Meehan, Captain Joe Clark, TOH Receiver of Taxes, Donald Clavin.
On Wednesday, October 22nd, the Town of Hempstead awarded Garden City Fire Department Firefighter Larry Kenny with the 2008 Town Firematic Award. Firefighter Kenny was honored for his more than 20 years of Volunteer Fire service to the Village of Garden City. Chief James Meehan noted "Our Village is grounded with volunteer service, Firefighter Kenny exemplifies that volunteer service in our village. He serves the Garden City community valiantly and unselfishly. He is well deserving of this award." Firefighter Kenny, accompanied his fellow volunteer firefighters as well as Mayor Peter Bee, attended the event at Hempstead Town Hall.
