This three-part course gives an introduction and some examples of how archaeology has contributed to our knowledge of world civilization.

WHAT IS ARCHAEOLOGY?

Visits to famous archaeological sites all over the world provide the backdrop to learn about the tools and techniques of archaeologists, the problems of preservation and how this adds to our understanding of world history and culture.

WONDERS OF ANCIENT ITALY

Learn how modern Italy rests on the foundations of three great ancient civilizations - Greek, Etruscan and Roman. Travel through Italy to visit some of the world's most exciting archaeological sites.

WHO ARE THE MAYA?

Travel to the jungles of Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico to the cities of the Maya, the most advanced pre-Columbian civilization in the western hemisphere.
