See this photo at www.Newsphoto.com The Garden City High School varsity and junior varsity cheerleading squads are in the midst of an active fall season. At home and away GCHS football games, they entertain the crowds with their spirited cheers, like the always-requested "Dynamite" cheer. This fall both squads have performed a number of new and complex stunts.

In addition, both squads are preparing to compete at four cheerleading competitions in December and January. The two squads will debut all new choreographed routines that feature a fast-paced combination of dance moves, cheers and stunts. Funds raised at their annual cheer clinic and a grant graciously provided by the Men's Association enabled the teams to hire professional cheer trainers from Nic's Gym in Holbrook to get them ready for the competitions.

And on January 17, the GCHS cheerleading squads will host the Long Island Cheerleading Coaches' Association middle school division competition. This event will be held at Garden City High School and is open to the public.
