Garden City's boys varsity soccer team took to the field on October 16th, still reeling from a last minute loss to Roslyn just two days earlier. Now, across the field from the Trojans, stood the members of the Jericho Jayhawks, the number one team in the division. The last time these two teams met, Jericho won 3-1. That was then, and this was now. The Trojans were ready for a rematch. But were the Jayhawks ready for the Trojans? Apparently not.
With no score and 25:58 into the game, GC's Mike Regan scored the first goal of the match on a well-placed pass inside the box from teammate Anthony Cordio.
Jericho had no answers as the second half got underway. Garden City's Will Mignon and Phil Vouyiouklakis added a goal each on assists from Ed Shannon and another from Anthony Cordio. George Spanos, who was making his first varsity start in goal for an injured Mike Lind, made four saves, preserving the 3-0 victory for Garden City. The Trojans are the first team this season to hand Jericho a shutout.

The Trojans traveled to Cold Spring Harbor on the 20th. It was a battle of the goalkeepers as Mike Lind, back in goal for Garden City, and Taylor Silverstein of Cold Spring Harbor made 10 saves each. Final score: 0-0.
