GC Thunder 7s And Floral Park's Titans
"Not this Play"
The GC Thunder 7s of team Moscatiello hit the road this week to take on our neighbors in Floral Park. The Thunder boys had practiced hard all week with laser focus to take on the FP Titans. GC had their road white jerseys on while the Titans came to play in their home blue jerseys, this game promised to be a real battle on a beautiful October afternoon.
GC won the coin toss and elected to take the ball, establishing domination from the first play. The Thunder's punishing ground game took center stage early in the game with a series of runs up the middle setting the tone for a bruising battle. With the crowd chanting "Thunder, Thunder" the boys went on two consecutive long drives both ending in touchdowns. The offensive line play was outstanding from the get-go led by TJ Schmitt, Timmy Curran, Joe Scattareggia, Reece Hungerford, Albert Severini, Aidan Pfaff, Angelo Demiris and Kevin "LB" Leblanc.
Behind the big boys upfront the running backs capitalized on open running lanes as well as made big plays on sheer effort. Tyler Sandoval, Brady "Touchdown Play" Sullivan, Harry Murphy and Stevie B Baymack gave their all this afternoon.
Defense clamps down on the run
Our defensive front clogged up the line, leaving the FP runners no room to run... the GC line play was like the Minnesota Vikings Purple People Eaters of the 70's. Christian "Crazy Legs" Genussa, Steven Haas, Campbell "Hollywood" Munn, Joey Atherall, Collin Plunkett and Kyle Merritts gave the Floral Park offensive line fits all day long by firing off the ball and getting into the gaps with incredible quickness.
Jackson Bautch, Nicholas "Nicky" Rosato and Steven "Mosc" Moscatiello played with wild abandon, turning the outside runs to the inside and were in on multiple tackles.
With Brian Boland back this week the team is home for another slugfest against the Bellmore Braves. Our game is Sunday the 26th at 9:00am at Stewart Field. Our boys have worked hard to improve each week and this is their final home game of the 2008 season so please come out and cheer for this group of talented young men.
Lining up for another big run
Go Thunder!!!!
