The United are a select team from LIJSL. The roster consists of players throughout Nassau and Suffolk. On Sunday the Xtreme played the Syosset 96 Arsenal at the Community Park. The Garden City Chargers U10 girls' soccer team participated in the 23rd Annual Paul R. Cody Columbus Day Tournament in Windsor, Connecticut. This was the team's first experience with tournament play and the results were great! The Chargers began the tournament on Saturday by playing the West Hartford Storm. Despite a gallant effort, Garden City was defeated by a score of 3 to 1. More ... Coach Metzlers U-14 Garden City Thunderbolts came out strong last Sunday against Plainedge at the Community Park and found themselves ahead by a score of 2-0 early in the first half. U-12 Girls Travel Soccer Team The Garden City Power Girls Travel Soccer Team has been very busy these days both training and competing.Recently, over the Columbus Day weekend the team participated in the Windsor Soccer Tournament in Windsor, Connecticut. The Garden City Sparks (Girls U-13) joined the other Garden City teams in the Columbus Day tournament in Windsor, Connecticut. Playing in the top division for their age group, the Sparks repeated their success from last year, again taking first place with a 5-0 record. The Sparks outscored their opponents 17-0 during the tournament. More ... The Men's Association of Garden City and the Andy Foundation are presently accepting team applications and sponsorships for the 2008 Football Classic. The GC Thunder 7s of team Moscatiello hit the road this week to take on our neighbors in Floral Park. The Thunder boys had practiced hard all week with laser focus to take on the FP Titans. Garden City's Chris Gladd batted over .600 over the regular season and batted over .750 in the playoffs as the VFs captured their 5th straight Queens County Court League Softball Championship.The VFs only finished in fourth place during the regular season but stepped up their play in the playoffs as they went undefeated. More ... The maroon 8s lost their first game this season after a hard fought contest at the hands of Elmont. The Thunder played from behind early trailing 12-0 in the first half. Getting behind by 2 tds awakened the thunder offensive and they knotted the score 12-12 late in the first half on a hard nosed run up the middle by Kieran Paskewitz and a James Buckley 50 yard end around. More ... The Thunder 8's traveled back to Newbridge Park in Bellmore to play the second of two Bellmore Brave teams. Their first visit earlier this season resulted in a heartbreaking loss in the final minute of play. The boys were pumped to return and avenge their early season blemish. More ... It was a sunny but blustery fall afternoon at Coes Neck Park where the Garden City Thunder was warming up to play the Baldwin Bombers. The first half was a defensive battle where both defenses really controlled the game for both teams. Fresh off their sheer domination performance and first place win in Windsor over Columbus day weekend, those amazing U-11 players from the Garden City Flash rested up on Saturday with a bye in their Division One league schedule and prepared to take on North Babylon Sunday evening in a State Cup match. More ... Coming off a full weekend of soccer after the Windsor Tournament, the Garden City U12 Patriettes played both a league game and a state cup tournament game this weekend. The league game was played at Merrick against the Sharks. The Sharks and Patriettes had met twice before in tournaments but never in a league game. More ... Now, across the field from the Trojans, stood the members of the Jericho Jayhawks, the number one team in the division. The last time these two teams met, Jericho won 3-1. More ... junior paddle program for middle and high schoolers The Recreation Department is pleased to offer a Paddle Tennis for Middle and High School studens on Friday evenings beginning November 7th. It was a beautiful Autumn evening on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 when a group of Long Island soccer players traveled to St. John's University in Queens County to participate in an exhibition match before the main event when SJU took on Syracuse. On Sunday, October 12th, Garden City Community Park was the site of a special baseball skills clinic for kids in the GCAA travel baseball program.
