Broadway Comes To Garden City
We have reserved seats for you and your friends at our premier performance of "Great American Music: Broadway Musicals" which will be presented by AAUW and The Friends of the Garden City Library on Monday, November 3 at 7 p.m. at our Library. You will not want to miss this DVD series which will cover the 200 year history of Broadway musical and which will continue once a month on Friday mornings through the year.
Our guide will be Professor Bill Messenger, lecturer at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. The teaching company selects only the finest authorities for its wonderful programs and Professor Mesenger, scholar, author and musician, is a delight as well as a great instructor. He will begin with "The Essence of the Musical" and "The Minstrel Era." The second program, to be held on friday, November 14 at 10 a.m. will go on to "The Evolution of the Verse/Song" and "The Ragtime Years."
