WPOA Calls For Residents To Report Aircraft Over-flights

2008-10-24 / Community

The directors of the Western Property Owners Association report that residents in the western section of the village have been experiencing a great increase in the number of aircraft flying over their neighborhood. Therefore, the directors call for residents in the West and in all sections of the Village to increase their vigilance and participation in reporting dangerously low (below 1200 feet) and/or disturbingly noisy aircraft activity, especially between the hours of 11 PM and 7 AM.

All residents are encouraged to visit www4.passur.com/jfk.html to view and identify offending aircraft. The identity, altitude, origin, aircraft type and glide path used for any flight overflying your home within the past three months may be learned by visiting this website. [Note that you can reset the time and date at the top of the page to look back to identify offending aircraft. Click on any plane to learn its time, date, identification and attitude.]

It is important to include this precise information when calling the FAA at (888) 835-5322 or the Port Authority at (516) 747-1417 when lodging a complaint. However, if you do not have access to the Internet, you should still file a complaint by including the time and date of the over-flight as accurately as possible.

Please note that (888) 835-5322 is the new complaint number for the FAA.
